Welcome to MANUAL:

MANUAL: a journal for men who pursue truth, honor, beauty, and grace.

This effort was born out of a desire to meet a “gap in service” that I’ve observed within our culture and notably American church culture. I’ve read plenty of pseudo-risque Christian non-fiction, laden with that same flaccid attitude of the grown man offering an unspoken prayer request. I’ve listened to countless hours of machismo self-improvement podcasters who determine the quality of a man by the gi he dons. I’ve seen dudes that I love cower and apologize to the Marxist hordes, all in an effort to appear humble and nice. It’s obvious, we’re missing something.

We’re missing salt-of-the-earth counsel.

That’s what I’d like to offer: counsel from a bushwhacker trying to ascend to a break that’ll yield a better perspective–to write field notes for the narrow path while I still repent for Saturday every third or fourth Sunday.

I believe in the virtues of chivalry, honesty, freedom, and altruism. On occasion, I live them out. In doing so, I hope to walk alongside my brothers on a mission to embrace a life of meaning, marked by service, courage, and creativity. Whether exploring the poetic side of masculinity, delving into spiritual growth, or tackling the practicalities of leadership and responsibility.

Manual is for men who desire to walk the narrow path, while not taking themselves too seriously.
